Elizabeth Cook Thomas, Ph.D.

Thomas_picDr. Thomas is a Ruth L. Kirschstein NRSA Postdoctoral Fellow on the Schizophrenia Team at the Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and completed her clinical internship at the Veterans Affairs Maryland Health Care System/University of Maryland Internship Consortium. Her prior training exposed her to opportunities to work with individuals with serious mental illness in a variety of treatment settings. She has particularly enjoyed providing recovery-oriented CT interventions to young adults newly diagnosed with psychotic disorders. Broadly, Dr. Thomas’ research interests include using longitudinal and mediation/moderation models to better understand how and why people recover, developing and evaluating novel interventions for individuals with SMI, and studying how peer provided services foster engagement and recovery.
