Nikki Carden, Psy.D. is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania’s Aaron T. Beck Psychopathology Research Center, with a focus on dissemination and training of cognitive therapy as part of the Beck Community Initiative. Dr. Carden earned her graduate degree from Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2016. She completed her APA internship at Friends Hospital, with rotations in severe mental illness and substance use treatment, and has completed both clinical and forensic assessment practicums on inpatient units. Dr. Carden is passionate about bringing cognitive behavioral therapy to underserved populations through education and advocacy, and her clinical and research interests concentrate on suicidality and self-harm behaviors, severe and chronic mental illness, trauma, forensics, and substance abuse. Her dissertation study investigated the impact of perceived relationship quality between the suicide survivor and the deceased, and guilt, on the level of complicated grief, perceived stigma, and overall quality of life in suicide survivors.
