what is CT-R

Guided by Aaron Beck’s cognitive model, Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy is an evidence-based practice that provides concrete, actionable steps to promote recovery and resiliency for individuals experiencing extensive behavioral, social, and physical health challenges. CT-R is highly collaborative, person-centered, and strength-based, and tailored to those who have a history of feeling disconnected from and distrustful of mental health professionals. CT-R has many forms and applications: individual therapy, group therapy, team-based care, therapeutic milieu, network to support of continuity of care. It can successfully empower one’s desired life across a range of settings and ages — for individuals who have recently received a diagnosis to those who have been chronically institutionalized for decades.
